Vernissage on Thursday, 15 October, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., observing all anti-epidemic measures.
The exhibition of one of the most prominent masters of documentary photography in Bulgaria, photographer-artist and Honoured Person of Cultural Merit, Todor Slavchev, is a major event in the programme of the eleventh edition of the festival, the European Month of Photography. The collection consists of 159 photographs arranged in 120 frames — a figure that symbolises the anniversary of the artist’s birth.
The project includes the publication of a monograph, which reproduces 168 photographs by Todor Slavchev, selected by the team of the National Association, Yanka Kurkchieva Academy of Photography, curated by photographer-artist Yavor Popov, and Ms Yana Uzunova, who has meticulously preserved the invaluably rich heritage of her grandfather.
The open display and publication of part of the archive of Todor Slavchev’s ‘image factory’ is a deeply veracious imagerial tour of the history of Sofia from the 1930s to the 1990s.
The event is organised with the financial support of the Sofia Municipality Culture Programme.
